東京・代官山にある〈フリーシティ〉のショップにて、先日ポップアップイベント「MAKER2017」が行われました！ デザイナーNina Gardunoが来日して、ハリウッドにあるFREECITY Supershopのお店を代官山のショップ内に再現したのです！！ なんとディスプレイされた多数の物たちが本国から持ち込んだもの！ Ninaのこだわりは、服や小物のディスプレイから音楽、壁の色まで細部に渡る…。
そこで今回は、ポップアップの様子とNinaのスペシャルインタビューを公開！

How did you come up with the idea to do this event?
How did you feel when you were recreating the store?
今回のイベントを開催するきっかけは？またどのような思いでFREECITY supershopを代官山で再現されましたか？

A1.
We wanted the MAKER show to travel to Tokyo to have a broader reach and connection.It was a beautiful experience to have the support of Seilin & Co. and to work side by side to recreate the MAKER show at FREECITY Tokyo.
私達は、東京でMAKERコレクションを、より多くの人々に知って頂き、つながりたいと考えました。MAKER展を東京のフリーシティで再現するために、聖林公司と共に取り組んだことは素晴らしい経験でした。

What is the highlight of the event?
今回のイベントの見どころは？

A2.
The highlight of the event is seeing people in the space and taking in all of the aspects of the presentation and connecting with the feeling of sound and visuals.
この空間に人々が集まり、プレゼンテーションを創り上げる全ての要素を感じ、音とビジュアルがつながることが当イベントの見どころです。

Please tell us about episodes during the preparation.
準備期間のエピソードがあれば教えて下さい。

A3.
We worked for 5 days, again side by side with the Seilin staff and crew, mixing paint, and in communication with our workshop in Los Angeles to have more items shipped to complete the show. It was a challenge to meet the deadline and to have made it happen under a short period of time and extreme circumstances all working together.
私達は、5日間の準備期間で、ロサンゼルスのワークショップと連絡を取り合いながら、必要に応じて追加で物資を取り寄せ、聖林公司スタッフと協力しながら作業しました。このような短期間でオープンに間に合わせるのは“チャレンジ”でしたが、厳しい状況下みんなで力を合せました。

How many times have you come to Japan? Did you feel any differences during your stay in Tokyo compared with your previous visit?
来日したのは何度目ですか？　以前来日したときと何か変わったと感じたことはありますか？

A4.
I think I’ve been to Japan 10 times or more and I always have a very gentle loving experience. A lot of Tokyo reminds me of where I come from in Hollywood, so it feels very different yet very familiar – same heart.
日本には10回以上来ています。そして、いつも心温まる経験をしています。東京と私の住むハリウッドは多くの共通点があり、大きな違いは感じていません。とても馴染みやすいです。　Same Heart

What do you think of the fashion scene in Japan?
日本のファッションシーンについてどう思いますか？

A5.
I think fashion is changing everywhere. I like seeing the new ideas of fashion that include everything from cars to books to food. I like seeing the fashion of culture.
あらゆる場所でファッションは変化していると思います。私は、食べ物、本、車など全てを含めたファッションの新しいアイディアを見るのが好きです。
